Today in Santo Domingo I met with the UNASUR facilitators
Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Leonel Fernandez, in the context of the dialogue
efforts in Venezuela. They informed me about the recent talks between the
Venezuelan government and the opposition. The launching of a formal dialogue is
an encouraging step forward that must continue with a full engagement by all
parties. common and peaceful solutions for the benefit of the people of
Venezuela. A full respect of the Constitution's principles and mechanisms,
separation of powers, rule of law and political freedoms are necessary. All the
parties should embrace a sincere and constructive dialogue, as outlined by Pope
Francis yesterday during his private meeting with President Maduro. More…
